- Benefits: Amaranth or amaranthus caudatus is a superfood high in phytochemicals, protein, amino acids, and antioxidants. It is good to add this grain to our diet which has a lot of health benefits. Amaranth seeds/flour contains no gluten making it a great option for people having gluten sensitivity, gluten-related diseases like celiac disease, and dermatitis herpetiformis. It lowers cholesterol levels including LDL and triglycerides and reduces inflammation as its oil and peptides have anti-inflammatory properties.
Amaranth, due to its antioxidant properties protects cells from damage and leads to cancer. It is rich in fiber, so it normalizes blood pressure levels, improves gut health, and helps constipation, bloating, etc. It is rich in minerals like calcium, zinc, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, and copper which help to build muscle, and strong bones, prevent premature greying, and produce energy.
