The vagina contains a healthy number of bacteria, majorly the presence of Lactobacillus especially pregnant women are more vulnerable to pathogenic infections.
Vaginal Dysbiosis refers to an imbalance or disruption in the normal composition of the Vaginal Microbiota, which can lead to various health issues. The Vaginal Microbiome typically consists of a diverse array of microorganisms, primarily bacteria, that help maintain a healthy environment in the vagina. Lactobacillus species are the most dominant bacteria in a healthy Vaginal Microbiome.
Testing for Vaginal Dysbiosis involves assessing the composition of the Vaginal Microbiota to determine if there is an imbalance. Disruption of microbiota composition and functions can cause various disorders, including premature delivery in pregnant women, uterus fibroids, infections, white discharge, PCOD, infertility, miscarriages, and an increased risk of sexually transmitted infections.
Therefore, it is wise to do testing before pregnancy for the Gut Microbiome and Vaginal Microbiome, which may decrease the risk of preterm birth or congenital malformations. This will help newborns with general health and good immunity and prevent psychological disorders like autism and ADHD after birth.
When this test is done, you will come to know the number of Vaginal Microbiomes present and the appropriate prevention strategy to be taken.

At AMMAGENOMICS we offer Vaginal Dysbiosis Multiplex PCR Test and look at the Vaginal Microbiota. Using a swab we collect the Vaginal Microbiome sample and with various tests, we identify the types and relative abundance of bacteria present. We look at the good bacteria like Lactobacillus Crispatus and bad pathogens like Lactobacillus Iners present in the sample and also give the ratio of good to bad bacteria.
We also do DNA Sequencing using techniques such as 16S rRNA gene sequencing, which can provide a comprehensive analysis of the Vaginal Microbiome. This method involves extracting DNA from the collected sample and sequencing the specific region of the bacterial DNA to identify the different bacterial species present. It offers a more detailed understanding of the microbial composition.
A Vaginal Dysbiosis Multiplex PCR Test is a very inexpensive method compared to DNA Sequencing of the Vaginal Microbiome which will take almost two months to know the result and will be more expensive close to Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000. But this VDM PCR Test is very quick, and you will know the result in two to three hours. It is also less expensive.
Taking this Vaginal Dysbiosis Test helps to find the root cause of vaginal problems like vaginal itching, infertility, and urinary tract infections.
Taking the Vaginal Dysbiosis Multiplex PCR Test at AMMAGENOMICS will bring a positive impact on your life. Based on the test results you are given food and dietary suggestions to increase the good bacteria in the vaginal microbiota.
