Septic Shock is a life-threatening situation caused by a localized or whole-body infection which is very critical and needs immediate medical attention.
Major symptoms are low blood pressure (hypotension), pressure going down, heart failure, chills, pale arms, and legs, difficulty in breathing, liver failure, low urine output due to kidney failure, disorientation of the brain, mental confusion and memory loss.
The outcome of Septic Shock depends mainly on the age of the patient when the treatment was started – earlier or late, the root cause of Sepsis in the body, and the medical history of the patient.
We found that the microbiota of ICU patients with sepsis has an increased abundance of microbes tightly associated with inflammation, such as Parabacteroides, Fusobacterium and Bilophila species and Enterococcus.
Sepsis is a condition in which an infection spreads to the blood and causes inflammation in the body. It is mostly caused due to bacterial infections. If not taken care that leads to Septic Shock.
If this condition is detected at an early stage, then it is curable.
At AMMAGENOMICS, we do PCR-based tests on the patient’s stool which can give an indication if the patient will go into Septic Shock. In culture tests, it is difficult to grow all the microorganisms and we fail to detect some of them. However, in PCR-based testing, almost all microorganisms are detected. We, give results in a quick turnaround time of three hours.
This will give an indication of the infection and help doctors to treat the patient in the right way.
