New Microbial Cell-free DNA Test for Leaky Gut Syndrome!
The defence system of a country has Army, Navy, and Airforce. There will be spies and other different types of departments. Similarly, our body also has immune cells which are different types like lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, etc. In Lymphocytes there are two sub-immune cells B lymphocytes and T lymphocytes.
B lymphocytes there are antibody-producing B lymphocytes, memory B cells, etc. In T lymphocytes we have T helper cells and T killer cells and so on.
Now when there is a leakage in the gut and the bacteria enter through the leakage, then neutrophils will attack them and take care of it. They are meant for that. They are the special defence force for tackling bacteria. Bacteria also will try to kill them, and both will fight against each other.
So, when we test for a blood count, if there is a decrease in neutrophils, then we can guess there could be bacterial infections.
Now in the bacterial infection, if it comes through the gut leakage then there will be a long-standing fever. It could even be low-grade fever with a lot of other symptoms like insomnia, depression, less libido, less appetite, pain in the gut, etc.
This is a condition where if neutrophils decrease, we don’t know whether it is because of some cancer or we can suspect there could be leukaemia, blood cancer or there could be such Leaky Gut Syndrome.
Leaky Gut Syndrome is mostly caused due to unhealthy food habits and stress.
